When it comes to a charting app, data security is one of the most important considerations. We know that when you chart with Marquette NFP™ Pro, you're trusting us not merely with personal information but with information about your health, your marriage, and your family.
We don't take that responsibility lightly.
Our approach to privacy isn't simply about complying with minimum regulations. It's about building a trustworthy platform that serves you.
Your Data Belongs to You
Our philosophy is simple: your data belongs to you.
You should always remain in control of your information. That means you can export your data, delete your account, and decide if and when you'd like to share your charts. We don't sell your personal information. Any sharing of your information is limited to providing the services you've requested and operating the app as described in our Privacy Policy.
It’s that simple, but there are a lot of considerations when it comes to how best to protect your data, so let’s look at why we handle data the way we do.
Why We Chose Secure Cloud Storage
One question you might have is: why does Marquette NFP Pro store data in the cloud instead of only on a user's phone?
Some apps keep all data directly on a single device. While that may be simpler and seem the most secure, it also creates limitations. It increases the likelihood that you would lose your charts, with no option to get it back. If a phone is lost, damaged, or replaced, valuable chart history can disappear.
It also makes it difficult for spouses to chart together. NFP at its core is a beautiful way for couples to grow together. In fact, couples who use NFP tend to have better interpersonal communication within their marriage and we want to support that! Marquette NFP is also unique in that it involves an ongoing relationship with your instructor. Storing data in the cloud allows us to support these two communication channels and to provide you with a good app experience.
Access Is Limited and Purposeful
People sometimes ask whether staff at Marquette NFP Pro can view their charts.
The answer is yes—but only in limited circumstances. Administrative access exists so we can investigate technical issues, maintain the security and integrity of the platform, respond to reports of abuse or safety concerns, and comply with valid legal requirements.
If you contact support because something isn’t working correctly, a member of our engineering team may need temporary access to the relevant information to diagnose and resolve the issue. Any administrative access is limited to what is necessary for the specific purpose and, whenever possible, is discussed with you first.
We do not browse user charts as part of our normal operations. Access is granted only when necessary for legitimate support, security, safety, or legal reasons, and only to the extent required
Trust Is More Than a Privacy Policy
In today's world, anyone can build an app and generate reassuring legal language in a matter of hours. What matters isn't just what a company says—it's who they're accountable to.
Marquette NFP Pro wasn't created to monetize data. It exists to support couples, instructors, and the continued growth of Marquette NFP. That mission creates accountability at every level.
Our engineering team has high standards for security and software quality. On top of that, we are accountable to the Boland Institute for Natural Family Planning, which has spent decades developing and teaching Marquette NFP. We are accountable to Marquette University, whose legal and institutional standards help guide how this platform is built and maintained. And, of course, we are accountable to the instructors and couples who place their trust in us every day.
If we fail to protect that trust, we don't just damage an app—we damage relationships, the reputation of Marquette NFP, and the work of an entire community.
That's not a responsibility we take lightly.
